Start of environmental studies

Assessing the potential of a mineral deposit is not limited to the acquisition of geological data.
The assessment must also take into consideration the environmental sensitivity of the site, which holds a particular place due to the variability of climatic cycles according to the seasons.
To integrate as much data as possible, the Compagnie des Mines Arédiennes is launching a three-year environmental studies program, from 2023 to 2025. They begin in May 2023 and concern flora, fauna and water.
They are entrusted to the ANTEA environmental studies office himself assisted by Écosphère. First of all, these are general studies that will be refined over time according to the information gathered.

1) On-site inventory of odonates
2) Marsh copper (Lycaena dispar): species protected in France present in Limousin

Processing of geophysical data made available by the French State

The Direction Générale de l'Aménagement du Logement et de la Nature (DGALN), assisted by BRGM, carried out an airborne geophysical survey campaign over the Massif Central in 2022. The data was made public by the French State on the site mineralinfo.

These airborne surveys consisted of electromagnetism, magnetism and gamma spectrometry measurements in order to increase geological and structural knowledge of the territory flown over and to better characterize hydrological, geothermal or mineral resources. More information

The Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche area is part of the areas flown over in 2022 and the data acquired on the area concern electromagnetism and rock magnetism. See photo opposite.

Compagnie des Mines Arédiennes appealed to the company Gexplore, French experts for the processing and valorization of this data. They are currently being analyzed and will be synthesized in the form of maps. They will also enrich the 3D model and will make it possible to better locate the mineralized veins at depth in the Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche sector.
